Rupali and Shalin

Rupali and Shalin’s Sangeet didn’t have bright colors or ladies in their finest saris. There were no satin pillows or henna artists. This couple put together a Wild West themed Sangeet their 400 guests will never forget!

"Guests were coming in from all over the world for this wedding and there was no better way of welcoming them than throwing a Western ho-down Sangeet. Everyone was dressed in appropriate western attire. The event was fully equipped with a mechanical bull, rodeo experts, line dancing, green screens, and live armadillos.  The phenomenal menu for the event had mouth watering BBQ, full on baked potato bar, apple cobbler, teas, and much more. The night in the wild west was unforgettable.”

This 800 person Indian wedding is a dream come true for any traditional couple. The colors, the fashion, the flowers … all just as gorgeous as the bride. Nico Photography did an amazing job of capturing the emotions of the day.

The groom’s baraat had plenty of family and, of course, a dhol player. But I’m loving the addition of colorful confetti that sets this one apart! Definitely a simple, DIY idea that any couple can incorporate.

Before getting into the spectacular details in this contemporary Indian wedding reception, we’re devoting a post to this bride’s reception look. We’ve seen modern, we’ve seen traditional but we are absolutely loving vintage! Rupali wore a white gown-inspired lehenga heavily embroidered with pearls. What really sets her look apart is the custom birdcage veil hairpiece. Oh, and the Manolo’s and necklace made of dozens of uncut diamonds help too!

Rupali and Shalin’s wedding coordinator at Electric Karma, faced the challenge of holding the cocktail party inside the reception ballroom at the Stafford Centre. The couple also wanted to completely transform the event space, as they had attended many events in the same venue prior to their wedding.

"We created a beautiful cocktail area around the perimeter of the dance floor by bringing in lounge furniture and high cocktail tables all in a very contemporary design to go with the look. During cocktails, the room was bathed in lavender lighting and a slide show of the couple played in the background.”

The couple chose a cool, modern color palette of lime green and white, with purple lighting. The tables were dressed with three variations of centerpieces and green linens.

“Shalin and Rupali did not want to go overboard with floral and girly touches, but instead wanted to keep it masculine and modern. The tall centerpieces and unique layout really utilized maximum seating in the room and gave enough way for the incredible view of the endless white dance floor.”

“There was a delightfully eclectic mix of Indian, Italian, and American cuisine throughout the night, as well as Key lime & apple cotton candy martinis. Trays carrying an item called “dragon puffs” were passed out. Bite into one of the macaroon like desserts and it released a cloud of smoke. Shaolin martial artists took over center stage and wowed the guests with impressive skill. The food, drinks, and dancing never stopped. It was extraordinary!!!”
