Priyanka and Sachin, both die-hard football fans, attended the University of Texas at the same time, but met in Los Angeles through mutual friends. From the bride:
"Since we have such strong Texas roots, we decided to hold the wedding in Houston. It was a summer wedding because there was no way we could get married during football season."Both of their families desired a traditional Indian wedding so they worked together to fulfill the parents' wishes, yet still fuse their individual personalities into the event. The wedding took place at the Meenakshi Temple of Pearland, a temple built in the 1970's with special significance for the bride. After the ceremony, their 600 guests were invited to wander the beautiful grounds and were treated to a traditional sit down Gujarati dinner.
