Customized Wedding Websites

Want to give your guests a taste of the big day before it comes along? Customizing your wedding website is the perfect way to share important details and get your guests excited about the wedding.

Wedding websites have been serving a great purpose for years but have traditionally just covered the basics – event details, registry information and a few pictures of the couple.

Why not expand on this and give your guests a real look at the two of you? You can set up a wedding website on your own or through an easy to use service like WeddingWindow.com. Once your site is set up, here are some great tips on making it your own.

Stories

Guests love reading your stories! Start off with a simple “About Us” section that gives visitors a glimpse into who you are and what you do. Then expand on this with the story of how you met and any other exciting times in your relationship. This is also a great place to gush about all the things you adore about your fiancé!

The Proposal

Was your fiancé savvy enough to hire a photographer or videographer to secretly capture the proposal? If so, your wedsite is the perfect place to display this! Showing the pictures or video again at the reception is also a great idea.

Polls

Polls are a great way to keep your site content fresh. Add a new poll every week or every month depending on how far out your wedding is. Polls can cover questions like “Where should we honeymoon?” and “Do you think the groom will cry on the wedding day?”

Quizzes

Test your guests’ knowledge by creating a quiz about the two of you and your relationship. Include questions you think they should be able to answer, as well as ones that will give them something to talk about for a while!

Music

Incorporate your love of music into your site to make it stand out. This can be through background music that plays while guests view your wedsite, or through separate sections where you can share your songs. Let guests listen to the song that was playing when you first met, or the song that will play during your first dance.

Photo and Video Albums

Wedding websites are a great way to share pictures of the wedding after it’s over, but they are also ideal for pre-wedding pictures and videos. Create albums of trips you took together, your childhood pictures, and events like the Engagement Party and Bachelor/Bachelorette parties (if you dare!).

Journal/Blog

Create a journal on your website to keep guests updated on how planning is going and milestones that you have reached in the process. This is a great way to share your thoughts with all of your guests at once, rather than individually checking in with them.

Guest Suggestions

Let your guests send in their suggestions on everything from songs to play at the reception to the flavor of the wedding cake! Also, make sure you have a guestbook on the site for all your guests to leave their comments.

Post-Wedding

Opt for an extended plan on your wedsite so you can keep it around for guests to view after the wedding. Add albums with pictures of all of your wedding events, along with video clips of various parts of the wedding. Encourage guests to send in any of their thoughts from the wedding as well. This will also help you during those first few months after the wedding when you’re going through withdrawal!
