Happy
CineMonday, everyone! I'm excited this week because my best friend is about to jet off to India for her wedding shopping and I intend to vicariously live through her. And not just because I get a pretty outfit for being the Maid of Honor!
So, I must admit, I love the way a non-Indian bride pulls off a sari so elegantly. Can you imagine the shock of wearing bridal wear and jewelry and accessories when you've never so much as put on a salwar kameez before? Today's bride takes it all in stride and is simply glowing in her traditional red and gold Bengali sari, and later in a glittering purple lehenga at the reception. The vintage feel of this film shot by
First Kiss Films sets it apart from so many other Indian wedding highlights. Definitely a must watch if you're looking for something that you haven't seen before!
MUST-SEE MOMENTS:
- A truly traditional Bengali wedding captured in a way I've never seen before
- The look of absolute pride and happiness in the parents' faces and the best wedding hugs I've seen!
- The absolutely breathtaking reception venue, with gorgeous TALL centerpieces
- The surprise dance performance telling the story of the couple's courtship that brings everyone to their feet!
More from the cinematographer:
"Sarah and Sanjoy were married last July along the banks of the Ottawa River. Their wedding was absolutely gorgeous and one I won’t soon forget. The bride elegantly embraced the groom’s Bengali Hindu background and was stunning in the traditional red and gold sari she wore for their ceremony. And just wait until you see the glittering lengha she wore to the reception in the Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of Civilization…A wonderful surprise dance performance starring Sanjoy’s sister sweetly told the story of the couple’s courtship and brought everyone to their feet – it was the highlight of the reception and gives their wedding film a bollywood-inspired ending."
