We have Sanjay and Laura's fusion wedding today shot by
Ueda Photography. Sanjay and Laura were married in a Hindu ceremony in front of their close family and friends and then moved on to literally dance the night away at their reception. Laura looked beautiful in her Indian sari with her gold jewelry dripping from ear to ear and necklace too!
Ueda Photography did a wonderful job detailing the events for the day, especially the joy on each and every guest's face! Lucky for us Laura gives us the behind the scenes scoop from her wedding day!
Our wedding was such a happy day. Since we had a fusion wedding and were combining two different cultures, it was very important for us to have our guests be a part of our wedding, to interact with one another and to actively participate. We wanted everyone to feel included and for every one to have a great time. It was a success and truly one of the best days of my life. The night before the wedding ceremony we had Garba. We included teachers and performances. Then we added salsa lessons with Latin music time and finally ended with deep house. Everyone was up and dancing at some point though out the night.
On our actual wedding day, my husband arrived to our venue on a pontoon boat instead of a horse. Our venue, the Monona Terrace, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is a beautiful building right on the lake. Sanjay and his family and friends rode around the lake, playing music and dancing before they arrived to the shore where they then danced up the helix of the building.
Our ceremony was a combined ceremony, with a hindu priest and a good friend who officiated our written vows. The wedding ceremony felt very intimate with our guests surrounding us; witnessing our love and commitment while laughing and singing.
The highlights of our wedding were dancing!!! My husband and I performed the Tango at the reception and a Bollywood dance at the Garba. For us, sharing our love of dance with our guests was one of the most important things we wanted to do. When we dance, we are completely connected and we wanted people to see this, so they could understand our love for one another.
